Vim and Apple minds
After 10 years being programmers, I see two different minds — “vim” mind and “apple” mind.
“Vim “ mind — is an example of open source mind. Free product, developed by community. With vim, you get bare minimum and after that you start to sharp it for you. You can use solutions from another vimmers or create your own. And “vim” encourages you to shape the tool for yourself and share your solutions with others without searching for profit.
“Apple” min — is an example of private/corporative mind. You buy something. You have some expectations from the product and that this product should solve your problems. Usually such product does not allow you to easily extend functionality for free, or if you can, you usually try to find profit event for trivial solutions (1$ apps on App store). Such mind encourage you to complain(don't try to extend/fix something yourself) on product and search profit.
vim was one of my first editor. And when I have published my first plugin (vim translator) I wanted to share my solutions with vim open source community to thank them for the plugins/knowledge which I have got/get/getting from them.
